Our Founder

From a simple life of slavery, being a cook and a farmer, God called and ordained Prophet William S. Crowdy, according to Jeremiah 1:5. Heeding to God’s call, Bishop William S. Crowdy, came preaching and proclaiming the second coming of Jesus Christ, thus saying, “behind me is Christ and the fire.” Preaching the urgency of salvation through repentance,

“And saying the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent ye, and believe the gospel” (St. Mark 1:15)

Like the apostles and the prophets of old, Prophet William S. Crowdy , did not come proclaiming himself, nor teaching his own opinions, ideologies nor philosophies, but he preached Christ, and him crucified, thus pointing all to God and to Christ, so that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name (St. Luke 24:47). In all his teachings, he proclaimed, “Thus saith the Lord God, not Elder Crowdy, nor any other minister, but thus saith the Lord God”.

Revealing to the Church where he got the gospel, he wrote “So I William Saunders Crowdy, was shown by the Seven Keys, the work of our God pertaining to our salvation…” and again, “my teacher is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.” He came in the name of the Lord, and established the Church of God according to Acts 4:12.

“He was sent out to call the people of God together into one family as Christ is. But one Head, that there should also be one body in Christ. God has commanded me to tell His people to, “come out of Babylon”, and that they be not partakers of her sins, nor receive of her plagues Revelation 18:4.

In his desire to see the salvation of the people of God, he preached, “Gentiles prepare for war, Israel prepare to meet your God”. To date, the Church of God and Saints of Christ, continues to herald this message of the gospel of peace, and of the good tidings of joy, which was preached by the Prophets and Apostles, and which Jesus said, he has “not come to destroy, but to fulfil” (St. Matt. 5:17).
