Charity Work

The charity involvement of the Church of God and Saints of Christ in the community is possible due to activities of the Daughters of Jerusalem and Sisters of Mercy. This auxiliary was established on Sivan (June) 26 1898 General Assembly held in Kansas, USA.  When the Church of God and Saints of Christ was established in South Africa in 1903 by Bishop Albert Christian, this auxiliary was also established.

The Daughters of Jerusalem and Sisters of Mercy is a charity auxiliary. It is a women’s ministry of the Church.  Its major purpose can be summarized with the words of Bishop W. S. Crowdy, our founder:  “Religion is not to get, but it is a duty”. This duty is to God by serving man.

The Church of God and Saints of Christ strives to fulfill this mission of helping others, and making this world a better place for all.

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these” (St. Mark 12: 30-31).

Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Gauteng Disctricts have Church run Charity Organizations which provide relief to community children who have lost their parents due to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in general and due to other social ills.

“…if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying; namely, thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Romans 13:9).
