More than conquerors

Posted By on November 3, 2008

“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.” (Romans 8:37)

“Sometimes our burdens are so hard to bear”, we sing.  Our problems sometimes overwhelm us,  and weigh us down. Whilst going through our trials, we forget that God is a very present help in trouble (Psalms 46:1). Our own lives do testify of the mercies and goodness of the Lord. Just thinking on how we made it in the past, and how we pulled through our trials and tribulations, is enough witness that “we can do all things through Christ who strengthen us” (Philippians 4:13). This gives us courage because the scriptures let us know that we are never alone in our trials.

We know that we are more than conquerors, because our God keeps his word. Sarah and Abraham waited and prayed for a child. Sarah waited so long that her faith began to waver, therefore she laughed when the angels mentioned that she will bear a child. The angels asked Abraham, is anything too hard for the Lord? (Genesis 18:14). Indeed at the appointed time, God delivered on his word. With God, Sarah and Abraham became conquerors. God conquered their problem on their behalf. Similar testimonies exists throughout the bible. In the New Testament, we are reminded of the woman with the issue of blood. She reached out to Jesus with the faith that if she touches the hem of his garment, she will be healed (St. Matthew 9:20-22).

Our own lives in many ways resemble those we read about in the bible. The same God who delivered his people from their trials, we know that when we have Him in our lives, he will conquer for us too. So no matter what is going on, whatever we are going through, in all these, we are more than conquerors. Our knowledge of God’s record in our own lives, in the lives of others, is enough proof that we are more than conquerors. For us to conquer our problems, we have to know where our help comes from.

Meditation: “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth” (Psalms 121:1-2).

Thank you for those wonderful words of comfort. Sometimes the stresses of life wears us down and we forget to look unto the hills.

Keep up doing a good work for the Lord.
